STARTING YOUR NEW YEAR RIGHT!

Happy New Year All!

As the New Year dawns, many are making New Year's resolutions based on things they want or believe need to change. I think, however, there's a more profound way to create change: by setting a personal intention. In this month’s newsletter, I want to share what I believe this means, how it's done, and how its benefits can make a significant difference in how you approach the year ahead.

What Does Setting a Personal Intention Mean?

While resolutions are often specific goals like losing weight or saving money, intentions are more about the mindset with which you approach life. It's about identifying what values or qualities you want to cultivate, such as patience, gratitude, or courage. This process involves deep self-reflection and a commitment to personal growth.

How Is It Done?

The process of setting an intention starts with looking inside. Take some quiet time to reflect on the past year. Consider the highs and lows and what you’ve learned about yourself. Then, think about the kind of person you want to be and the values you wish to embody.

Write down your intentions in clear, positive language. For instance, instead of saying, “I don’t want to be stressed,” phrase it as, “I intend to embrace calmness and clarity in my life.” This positive framing makes your intentions more powerful and achievable.

Why Set Intentions at the Beginning of the Year?

The start of a new year symbolizes a new beginning, making it a fitting time to set intentions. It's a period when we naturally reflect on our lives and contemplate what we want for the future. Setting intentions at this time can infuse the entire year with purpose and direction.

The Benefits

Setting personal intentions can lead to a more fulfilling and balanced life. Unlike resolutions, which are often forgotten within weeks, intentions are adaptable and can evolve with you throughout the year. They help you in maintaining a focus on your personal values and can contribute to your sense of well-being and satisfaction.

As you move into 2024, identifying and stating your personal intentions is a powerful way to align your actions with your inner values. It's a commitment to living mindfully and purposefully, ensuring that each day of the year contributes to your personal growth and happiness.

Love,

Donna
